The Local Government of Alsópáhok and the Local Government of Hévíz, cooperating in the form of a consortium, submitted a successful application to the West Transdanubian Regional Development Agency under the identification number NYDOP-4.3.1/B-09-2009-0006. The aim of the development is to construct a 2,209.3 km long cycle track next to Road 7332.
The aim of the project is to build bicycle traffic facilities for local and inter-town commuter traffic and transport purposes in the region, to develop and improve the region’s cycling infrastructure, to organise the already existing elements into a network in an environmentally sustainable way.
The long-term goal of the investment is to encourage the general use of bicycles as environmentally friendly modes of transport among the population, and to enhance job-related bicycle traffic.
In the framework of the construction activities, a two-way unilateral foot- (only in the Hévíz section) and bicycle path without separation was built in 2.6 and 3.6 m width next to the public road in accordance with the legal requirements and the invitation to tender. Constructing the cycle track-related infrastructural facilities and the necessary traffic technology equipment, as well as planting of vegetation and reconstructing the public lighting are also parts of the development.
The construction works started on 29th April 2011 after the ceremonial work space inauguration.
The technical delivery of the cycle path took place on 15th November 2011.
